Mgr. Pizzaballa, Archbishop for the Latin Church on Holy Land

P. Pierbattista Pizzaballa, named last 24 June apostolic administrator on Holy Land, in the afternoon of Saturday, 10 September in the Cathedral in Bergamo, the Pope Francisco has consecrated him Archbishop for the Latin Church on Holy Land. The Episcopal logo chosen for Mons. Pizzaballa represents the city of Jerusalem accompanied for this words: «Sufficit tibi gratia mea» (my grace is enough for you) (2 Cor 12, 9).

The prefect mentioned the fact that they are many persons in Holy Land, and particularly in the Latin territory who still have «thirst of justice and peace: fundamental dimensions of the human existence that before to ask it to the others, we must desire and realize in the relations between the Church and the other churches, over that in the dialogue among the believer Jewish and Moslems.”

In the celebration they participated about thirty between archbishops and bishops, the apostolic messengers in Israel, Palestine, Jordan, Lebanon, Cuba, Singapore and Canada. They were present also the archbishop Greek-melquita of Akko, the archbishop maronita of Haifa, the apostolic vicar of Arabia and that one of Istanbul, and the native bishops of Bergamo. There were also an ecumenical delegation, with the archbishop Nektarios, sent by the Greek-orthodox patriarch of Jerusalem, and a good number of minor Franciscans, that take care especially of the Custody of the Holy Land.
