Here the Son of God became flesh

Nazareth is not only the place where Jesus lived during his childhood and adolescence, it is also and especially the place where he became flesh, in the womb of Mary. In the cave is venerated the very special moment in which the angel announced to Mary that in her womb the Son of God would be conceived by the Holy Spirit.

This moment marks the beginning of the history of Salvation and for this reason every year the Basilica of the Annunciation gathers thousands of faithful not only Catholics but also Christians in general to remember the visit of the angel to Mary.

Sublime moment in which Mary, with her “Fiat” expresses her faith and her willingness to collaborate freely in the plan that was revealed to her. With her fiat, Mary becomes the first disciple of Jesus. Through the incarnation, she shares her son’s feelings and with him says: “Behold, I come to do your will, O God” (Heb 10: 7).

On Saturday 25th March, will be the traditional solemn entrance in the Basilica of the Apostolic Administrator, Mgr. Pierbattista Pizzaballa, accompanied by Franciscans and representatives of other Christian churches, where prayers are prayed in Arabic, praying vespers.

At night, there is the Marian procession with candles, a moment of adoration before the altar, to celebrate with the Word, the prayer and the Eucharist, the real presence of Jesus, the Word of God, which in this precise place was made flesh.
